• April 20, 2008 - UMBEL's first Web services and sandbox, hosted by Zitgist, are announced and released
• March 30, 2008 - after much research and background development, UMBEL is re-introduced in its soon-to-be-released form. A four-part Foundation series is begun via the AI3 blog:
  • Part 1: A re-Introduction to UMBEL
  • Part 2: UMBEL: Making Linked Data Classy
  • Part 3: Subject Concepts and Named Entities
  • Part 4: Basing UMBEL's Backbone on OpenCyc
• August 8, 2007 - first release of the first-cut outline of the 'core' ontology posted for comment
• July 30, 2007 - UMBEL wiki first released
• July 13, 2007 - Google group first formed
• July 12, 2007 - UMBEL project first announced
